The Benin Mask

Beautiful, handcrafted shadow box in a 16×22 frame. The interior is designed with African fabric. The carbon encased within the shadow box is a Benin mask. A smaller version of this mask is worn on the hip by the “Oba”, during important ceremonies. This mask is said to represent “Idia”, mother of “Oba Esigie” who ruled in the 16th century. Benin is in West Africa.
